The following is part of a weekly newsletter I get from the Business & Professional Women’s National Headquarters:

  • This week you have the opportunity to weigh in on the proposed Small Business Administration regulations for the implementation of the women’s federal procurement program. Comments can be received by July 17, 2006.
    After 5 ½ years, the SBA has finally issued the proposed regulations to implement the women’s federal procurement program. This important program provides a targeted option to enable contracting officers to “set-aside” certain procurements for women-owned businesses. These contracts are of a certain size and will only be for women-owned businesses in underrepresented industries in government contracting.
    We need your help to assure that the SBA implements the women’s federal procurement program:
    *Quickly, fairly and in compliance with the law as written by congress
    *With clarity for the contracting officers who will use the program
    *In a manner that will open doors for women business owners – not shut them
    Tell the Small Business Administration and the U. S. Congress that you have important views on the implementation of this important program for women business owners.
