One who fears failure limits his activities. Failure is only the opportunity to more intelligently begin again. –Henry Ford A man’s life is interesting primarily when he has failed–I well know. For it’s a sign that he tried to surpass himself. –Georges Clemenceau
Becky started Small Biz Survival in 2006 to share rural business and community building stories and ideas with other small town business people. She and her husband have a small cattle ranch and are lifelong entrepreneurs. Becky is an international speaker on small business and rural topics.
I have thoroughly looked forward to (I started to say “enjoyed” but I don’t really “enjoy” the thought of failure) these posts on redefining failure. They have caused me to take another look at my life.
I have lived much of my “chronologically experienced” life terribly afraid of failure: in school, in marriage, in business, with my children. I have often been paralyzed by the fear of failure. I have often endured a situation long after I should have “cut and run.”
This series of posts has greatly liberated me in an area I previously had little hope that I could change. I just thought I was doomed to live with the fear.
Thank you, Becky. Keep it up. I may become a whole person yet.
People often say that success is a journey, not a destination. I prefer to say that failure is the journey, success the destination.
