The early Brag Basket

Each Friday, I open the Brag Basket for the weekend. This weekend, I’m opening it early, because Deb has some exciting news to share!

This is designed as a fun place for you to share your projects and accomplishments. But you can also cheer for other people, give shout outs, congratulate, and even give someone a well-deserved pat on the back.

Think that bragging is a bad thing? Read how Tony explains the Brag Basket.

The Brag Basket is open for everyone, whether from a small town, a big city, or anywhere in the world. (But it’s true that I love small town brags!)

Will you put something in the Brag Basket this week? You can brag on a friend, your own project, yourself, others, anything! Make it personal, and not just an ad. You don’t need special permission, and you don’t have to be from a small town. Just leave a comment right here. There’s no deadline, so you can brag anytime during the weekend, and I’ll open a fresh Brag Basket each Friday.

  1. I am thrilled and honored to be representing the blogger/twitter press at the Communitelligence two day conference in Chicago June 16 and June 17. The first day is Innovating Employee Engagement and the second day is Executing Social Media. Many kudos for Liz Strauss for putting it out there – and to John Gerstner for offering me the opportunity.

Keep an eye out at http://www.debworks.com for blogs – and follow me at twitter @debworks

    Thanks!

  2. Hey, I’d like to brag on a small town in Utah I just visited last week. I wrote a post about it at the Middle Zone this week, but it turns out it’s Vernal, Utah’s 100th birthday! Here’s an article about it from Vernal.com (http://bit.ly/DXbdm)

    Congratulations, y’all!

  3. … and what the hey…

Just revised and ordered the second proof for my new book (paperback version).

Also working on the hardback, Special Edition version, to be published by Lulu. AND… prepared the ebook version for sale/distribution by Smashwords.

It’s gonna be an extravaganza, folks! :-O

  4. Robert, I’m glad you came back with this one! I’m excited for you! You also have a great idea of adding bonus content to the hardback to make up for the added cost. Good for you!

  5. Hi Becky, this may be a little geeky, but we do a weekly call on VoIP and today we tried an experimental system that will eventually allow Skype and your small company’s pbx to be connected. The ramifications of this are simple: you can seamlessly get Skype calls on your phone. There are hundreds of millions of Skype users and having access to these are a big deal.

We had people connected between Israel, Bermuda, France, the UK, and the USA, all speaking in a conference. If you are interested in the technology, see http://vuc.me for two recordings.

We’re very pleased with the result of the test.

  6. I posted on the wrong basket!
We were able to connect several Skype callers with a traditional small business pbx today on our weekly VoIP Users Conference today. The point of the experiment is that any Skype user will be able to call your Skype ID and be connected to your regular phone. NO more computer running to wait for calls. All the power of your pbx to answer, forward or route your calls.

If you care about this kind of idea, listen in on our recordings at http://vuc.me – anyone who has any questions about the technology is welcome to contact us. We are not selling anything, just testing the limits of Skype for Asterisk.

  7. I returned today from leading two days of training with a client in Florida…and they CANNOT WAIT for me to get back down there for our next session! Maybe THAT is the kind of stuff Willis was talkin’ about”!

  8. Randulo, I copied your other brag over, but I’m still glad you jumped in. Thanks!

Scott, you are rockin’! And in Florida, no less! Good for you!

  9. Would like to mention the launch today of Frugalocal.com We provide small local businesses a way to let their community know about their promotions. PPC and directory listings all favor larger businesses that can afford top placement. The small to medium size business is at a great disadvantage.

With Frugalocal, an optimized promotional offer can be created and not only posted on the Frugalocal database, but is submitted to Google, Yahoo, and Bing, where local searching consumers can find them. Promotions can be used to direct people to your website or come into your store. All for only .50 cents a day.

  10. @Becky, thanks! Funny we’ve been in contact since the Chris Brogan Grasshoppers days, I’ve seen your weekly tweets and never thought I had anything appropriate to put here. Then when I did I got to thinking my post looked like spam. The conference is not a business at all, it’s for small business people and as I think you saw immediately, the Skype thing is a big deal, even though few people understand it now.

The important thing is to see that VoIP is not just about saving money, it’s about value added. We’ve been able to hear from CEOs of major players in the VoIP field and the things these companies offer now, especially if your small business has worldwide potential, are amazing.

Thanks for the opportunity to “jubiliate” here about our success and I hope folks won’t hesitate to contact us (via the contact form on http://vuc.me) if they need free assistance understanding this “VoIP thing”.
