Do something worth bragging about
Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. I started this so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.
The basket is open all weekend, from October 22-24, 2010.
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.
How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.
This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Stopping by for a hard core, full out brag: Wednesday evening I won the High Tech Award at the Self Employment Program’s Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. The SE Program is how I began this solopreneur journey twelve years ago this fall. I continue to learn about being a small business owner. Although I’m baffled by how what I do – web accessibility – counts as high tech, it feels good and validating to be recognized locally for the first time.
And that, dear friend, is worth bragging about. To be recognized locally is a big, big accomplishment. Congratulations.
OK, fine, I’ll brag on us, Becky. As Tourism Currents, we ran the first-ever Tourism track at BlogWorld and New Media Expo!
With wonderful co-facilitators from the Seattle CVB, the Pensacola CVB, the Beaumont CVB and Velvet Chainsaw Consulting, we showed tourism folks how to “go where the geeks are” and connect with some of the 5000 or so bloggers at the conference.
We’re going back in 2011 to do it again, and I can’t wait. :) Yay, us!

I got my graduation certificate from culinary school in the mail today. It marked the end of a very long road to fulfilling a dream, and now the road has many forks and I need to choose one.

Thanks for giving me a chance to share that I just finished writing what turned into 4 mini profiles for my column GoodWorks! about the innovative “agripreneurs” here on the South Coast of CA (I’m in Pescadero, pop. 800). They’ll be posted over the next two weeks and have enabled me to tell some of the back story about the important contributions being made here to improve the food system.
