The Brag Basket is worth waiting for

The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one August 19-21, 2011.

Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
  • applaud for each other

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others.

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

  1. Thanks, Becky, for BragBasket invite. We just had a remarkably fun Saturday in the Parking Lot! This activity is our annual thank you to the people who believe in our work, old friends – new friends – justnow friends. So many families & children (450+) having a good time. Community resource people, train rides, dunk tank (with local “celeb”), games, misting tank (very popular), kittens&puppies available for adoption, crafts, wrecker loading&unloading, car show & so much more. Success every year & getting bigger & better. Lots of pre-work, pr, behind the scenes, settingup, unsetting. Worth it all. What fun we all had. pamela

  3. I want to brag a bit on the Iowa State Fair. I try to attend every year, but occasionally I miss it. This year, I made it. The organizers are doing a little better every year. This year, I noticed a concerted effort to better educate people about food and how and where it is made. The process of farming was being explained in so many places. Very good stuff.
