The Brag Basket is open! This one is for Feb 1-14, 2015. Bring your good news to share with everyone.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • applaud for each other
  • confess your undying love for rural places

How do you join in?

Below this post is the comment section. Add your good news there.

Don’t like to brag? Just share some good news for yourself or a friend.

Just don’t make it an ad. I delete the ads that people stick in here. If you talk more about the people involved than the things, you’ll be fine.

It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

  1. The Possibliities Tour: Turning Deserted Spaces into Dynamic Places from Natchez Mississippi was recognized this week by the Mississippi Economic Development Council as an outstanding economic project and partnership between Natchez, Inc., an economic development group and Alcorn State University.

  2. Jerry Johnson sent this one in by email:
“Just discovered ‘Small Towns Big Ideas’ from North Carolina Rural Development Council!! Great Stuff!!!!. Put that together with ‘Handmade in America,’ and John Campbell Folk Art School and you have got a state doing wonders for small towns and small business.”

I agree! thanks, Jerry, for bragging on them!

  3. Hi Becky – I’m actually quite pleased to share that we received a nice award from our local SCORE Chapter today. My partner, Gordon Simmons, was able to attend the luncheon and with two other local small businesses (a cafe and a machinist), accepted an “Outstanding Business” award.

    Here’s a Twitter link with a pic! https://twitter.com/mstracybrown/status/563787803495256064

This is our first recognition for our business! Gordon and I decided to work together in 2012, and formed our company in spring 2013. It’s been challenging at times, but we are plugging away and growing! :-)

Thanks for letting me share here! (I hope this isn’t spammy!)

    1. Hi Tracy! Congratulations! That’s a big honor, and I’m sure there will be many more!

And that’s not spammy; it’s just the kind of thing we all love to applaud.

      1. Whew! Thanks, Becky! ;-)

We were excited to also learn that there was a nice write-up in the business section of our local paper on Saturday. All three businesses were featured!

People WANT to support local and small businesses. That feels so great!

  4. Had a brain block on how I wanted to spin off a design & the light bulb moment hit me yesterday, so excited to be in my studio today working on my art.

  5. I’m seeing the fruits of about 7 years of hard work beginning to pay off.

I’m also seeing the value of taking breaks from hard work, to recharge.

I’m grateful for friends and business mentors like you, Becky.
