  1. Something big was hanging over my head for over 2 years- finally able to get it resolved and slay the dragon!

  2. This is a shout out to our friends in the Finger Lakes, who I would like to brag about. Two weeks ago, 48 business people, farmers and chefs from Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada, chartered a coach to the Finger Lakes region of New York State for a two-day, one-night tour of similar businesses and locations. Here are just a few of the things we saw…

    1. A first class wine and culinary centre in Canandaigua promoting New York wine, beer, spirits and food

    2. An incubator for agrifood in Geneva helping a company develop its cherry juice product that will soon be sold in Walmart, as well as a company that presses locally grown squash seeds and pumpkin seeds into culinary oils

    3. An engaging entrepreneur who runs a fun vintage VW bus tour around the Finger Lakes, providing a unique, alternative experience for small groups

    4. A cafe in Penn Yan that raises funds to feed 500 local disadvantaged kids each weekend as part of a food back pack program

    5. An arts centre in a small town that has listened to its community and created programs that are very successful.

    6. A craft brewery that created a Mug Club to encourage loyalty among local residents in the slow season

    7. Two (2!) wineries that repurposed rundown old barns for their tasting rooms / production areas

    8. Event organizers in Seneca Falls found a link between their town and a classic Christmas movie (It’s A Wonderful Life), around which they built a winter festival and a marathon fundraiser

    2. Clark – what a fantastic praise list for the wonderful people working and living in the Finger Lakes! We’re in Rochester (NY) and enjoy visiting Canandaigua Lake and the local businesses there that make it so special. We kayak on the lake during summer.

      I hope you made it over to some of the wineries around Keuka Lake (another favorite) as well. Heron Hill Winery’s cafe serves wonderful lunches, and Dr. Frank’s is well-known for its wine. (The Rkatsiteli is awesome.) There are many others, of course, but I’ll refrain from listing all of my favorites!

      1. Thanks Tracy – we really love the Finger Lakes. Have been there many times on personal time, so that helped plan the trip. Keuka is one of our favourite parts of FLX. Last time, we stayed at these cool cabins in Bluff Point. Also love the patio at Esperanza restaurant overlooking the lake! Need to go back!

I get to use my 35 years experience in residential design to mentor ( pro bono ) a group of young architects .” bc workshop ” is a design studio working in central Dallas to aid in rebuilding vibrant neighborhoods from dilapidated drug-infested areas around the city. All avenues related to Art, Architecture, and Construction will be used to influence a community revitalization . How Design can build Community !!!!

  4. Sent some gentlemen a calendar I graphic designed this week as a thank-you gift for letting me use their ephemera for my biz. I always like to thank-those who have helped me in some way, life is great, biz is doing well! Working on doing charity events soon also.
