The Brag Basket is open! This one is for May 29-31, 2015. Bring your good news to share with everyone.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • applaud for each other
  • confess your undying love for rural places

How do you join in?

Below this post is the comment section. Add your good news there.

Don’t like to brag? Just share some good news for yourself or a friend.

Just don’t make it an ad. I delete the ads that people stick in here. If you talk more about the people involved than the things, you’ll be fine.

It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

  1. Hello and Happy Friday!

We’ve had a great week overall, but I’m truly excited by our first full-fledged guest blogger. (We’ve received requests before from people offering to provide posts, but all-too-often they’ve smelled “spammy.”) We’ve done a couple “Ask the Experts” posts before with people I know and trust, and that was great, but this week’s post was quite “meaty” and actually, a bit of a case study!

My partner met the Digital Media Coordinator for a small Western NY hardware store/chain called Valu Home Centers at a WordPress WordCamp in Buffalo last year. Nicole really made a positive impression on him, and he asked if she would consider writing a post for us in the future. And she did!

I guess I’m tickled because I grew up in a small town in WNY and remember going to Valu with my Dad when I was younger. It’s cool to see how the hardware store has “grown up” and is working to reach new customers in social media while being inclusive to the traditional (older) demographics in the store.

So, that’s my brag! A great post “given” to us to share with our readers. If I may add the link here…

There are some really good tips / examples that small town businesses could use in their marketing too. Check out the Pinterest board photo that the hardware store used!

Thank you for letting me share, Becky. Have an awesome weekend!

    1. That is a seriously useful post for small businesses, Tracy! I’m glad you chose to invite and accept such a smart guest post. Cheers!
